USX

GfK Telecontrol has developed USX, a specific measurement component, which can easily be integrated into the Universal Meter System UMS. This measurement device in form of a USB stick can also be used as such. Its main function though, is the measuring of media consume on PCs via audio-matching, watermarking and URL analysis. USX can be connected to any PC, in order to measure the complete media consume at-home as well as out-of-home. No software installation is necessary and no administrator rights are required, which increases acceptance and simplifies its handling.

The data transfer happens via the Internet. As soon as USX detects an Internet connection, it transmits the saved data to the data central. Alternatively, USX can be calibrated via a docking station at home or a UMX device.

One of the biggest advantages of USX is its simple handling by the panellist: he only has to plug USX into a free USB port of his PC. This enables the measuring of media content at-home as well as out-of-home – also in secure company networks.
